SummarySpring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook, Maine, located just adjacent to Portland, is seeking an adult service, Attending Physician. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic medical staff that offers opportunities to teach residents from Maine’s largest psychiatry residency, as well as medical students at Tufts medical school. The role provides flexibility to utilize a diverse group that builds a multidisciplinary care team, including advanced practice professionals, nursing, social work, discharge planning, psychiatric technicians, an employment specialist, programming specialists, and a family navigator, all aimed at helping patients with the complex biopsychosocial presentations common in mental healthcare delivery today. The pharmacy includes support from pharmacists focused on psychopharmacology, and there is support from a primary care team on-site, available 7 days a week. The environment fosters collegiality and ongoing learning through regular case conferences and Grand Rounds presentations. As a part of the medical staff, you are eligible for an Assistant Professor Faculty appointment at Tufts School of Medicine.This position offers a good work-life balance to enjoy all that Maine has to offer, including opportunities for city life in Portland and a myriad of outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing, swimming, and kayaking. This is supported by a manageable call requirement, typically less than 1 in 8, currently only including Saturdays with no overnight requirement. The role also offers physicians MaineHealth’s benefits, which include time off and time for continuing medical education, along with additional moonlighting opportunities throughout the system.Desired Qualifications & Experience:Education: Graduate of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School.Completion of internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training.License/Certifications: Current and valid license as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine or eligible.Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, or eligible for examination as documented by written evidence.Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry.Current DEA Registration Certificate.Experience: 3+ years experience inclusive of residency and/or fellowship training.Meet other credentialing criteria defined in Medical Staff By-laws.Additional InformationSpring Harbor is a modern facility offering access to ECT and other services under the Maine Behavioral Healthcare Service.
