Massive volumes of data are generated – not just from transactional systems of record, but also from the world around us. Our data integration products – Azure Data Factory and Power Query make it easy for customers to bring in, clean, shape, and join data, to extract intelligence.We are looking for a Software Engineer II who can build APIs, front-ends, and services that interact with our engine to support uniform data access and distributed querying over a vast and growing number of supported data sources. You will be part of the design and development of the highly scalable global services that process petabytes of data every day.We’re the team that develops the Mashup Engine (M), Power Query, the Data Gateway, the Virtual Network Data Gateway and Dataflows. We develop data integration infrastructure for millions of users across the Microsoft Fabric platform, Excel, and Power Apps; but in many ways we’re just getting started. We’re building new services, experiences, and engine capabilities that will broaden the reach of our technologies to several new areas – large-scale data analytics, cloud-based dataflows, and data intelligence. We're developing a secure platform, deeply integrated AI copilots, visualizations, and example-based interactions to make data transformations intuitive for everyone.We do not just value differences or different perspectives. As a Software Engineer II you will (includes, but not limited to):Develop and maintain highly reliable services and front-ends that enable users to interact with complex large-scale data.Collaborate with and influence members within the team and across other teams at Microsoft.Participate in producing extensible and maintainable code with a focus on security, reliability, diagnosability, and performance.Participate in design discussions with the team and share learnings from investigations, holding ownership for design decisions.Contribute to the product vision, roadmap, architecture, and planning.Embody our culture and values.Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in Object Oriented (OO) languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, Typescript, or Python.OR equivalent experience.1+ years of experience working in a SaaS environment.1+ years of experience shipping new features.Ability and willingness to work an on-call schedule.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check:This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications

1+ years of experience with Big Data, or Business Intelligence (BI), or tools used in Big Data and analytics.1+ years of experience working independently on features.1+ years of experience maintaining production systems.1+ years of experience working with customers and solving customer issues.Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
