Backend Engineer- SQL

Coactive makes it easy to search, filter, and analyze visual content. Increasingly image and video data captures the content we watch, the products we buy, and the work we do, and already represents 80% of internet traffic. But rather than being an asset, visual content is often a tax or even a liability because it is so hard to work with and understand. Coactive solves this by bringing structure to unstructured visual data. Rather than spending months (or years) building complex infrastructure, data teams can unlock the value of their visual data in minutes to power use cases such as content understanding and moderation, search, and analytics.What we need:

We are seeking a Backend Engineer to build highly reliable full-stack applications using foundational AI models. Your role will involve designing and developing services to advance data pipelines for video, audio, and image data. You will architect intricate data models for optimal storage and retrieval, supporting high throughput and low latency queries. Collaboration across departments, with engineers, product, and research teams, will be key to solving complex, high-scale problems. You will work with both structured and unstructured data sources, building performant functionality on top of them. Additionally, you will gain exposure to AI/ML and all parts of the codebase through team discussions. Your expertise will shape our engineering best practices and contribute to our company culture as we grow.What you’ll do:

Build highly reliable full stack applications that use foundational AI modelsDesign and develop services that advance data pipelines ingesting video, audio, and image dataDesign and architect intricate data models for optimal storage and retrieval to support high throughput, low latency queriesWork with both structured and unstructured data sources and build performant functionality on top of themCollaborate across departments, engineers, product, and research teams to solve complicated high scale problemsGain exposure to AI/ML and all parts of the codebase through collaborative team discussionsShape engineering best practices and company culture as we growWhat you’ll need:

A proven track record with 8+ years of professional experience in web development, microservices architecture, and SQL developmentDeep knowledge of database internals, query planning, and optimizationsProficiency in design of algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and deploying scalable microservicesExperience with one or more general-purpose programming languages including but not limited to Python, Go, or Java (we use Python)Experience working with NoSQL databases including but not limited to MongoDB, ElasticSearch, etc., and relational databases like Postgres, etc.Strong data ingestion fundamentals and meaningful contribution in the area of streaming pipelines and handling high volumes of dataStrong testing ethos and knowledge of best practices, including code quality, accessibility, performance, and securityStrong candidates may also have experience with some of the following:Exposure to big data frameworks like Spark, Kafka, etc.What you can expect from us:
