We’re actively recruiting for this key, high profile role in the company because we have experienced tremendous growth and would love for you to join us!Visit us at: www.OdysseyLogistics.com/careersAbout the Job:The position of Data Scientist is primarily responsible to provide key support to the Global Data Services team through development of a robust AI/ML footprint within the organization, and well as helping guide the strategic use of data science principles throughout the Data and Analytics ecosystem. The Lead Data Scientist should be passionate about understanding Odyssey’s businesses and be driven to leverage technology to solve the most complex business challenges.In This Role, You Will:Review and approve methodologies used for advanced analysis projects (predictive models, clustering/segmentation, etc.) by junior team members and others.Identify the right lines of questioning for solving business challenges.Strong AI/ML development for both conceptual design and practical deployment.Lead complex projects using wide breadth of data sciences and advanced techniques.Lead prototyping (what –ifs) supporting pilot programs for R&D purposes.Familiarity with large scale data processing tools like Hadoop and Spark.Perform research and analysis on large data solutions.Design and implement scalable predictive models, classifiers leveraging machine learning, and data regression.Work closely with software engineers and architects to extract, transform and standardize data for optimal use for analytic tools.Work with Data Engineering and Application Devs to incorporate data best practices.Establish strong relationships with all stakeholders and ensure work is prioritized according to business needs and opportunity.Work closely with product teams to implement algorithms to enable data driven business decisions.Provide peer leadership to Junior team members.All other duties and projects as assigned.QualificationsWe recognize not all applicants have every skill or qualification to match a job description exactly. We are always looking for people who will bring something new to the table!Required:Bachelor's Degree in Data Science/Analytics, Computer Information Systems, Economics, Physics, Finance, Business or a closely related field.2-5 years of experience in practical and production ready data science application, particularly AI and ML decision making or decision augmenting tools.Ability to analyze various kinds of data and concluding actionable insights.Experience in developing new data pipelines and optimizing existing pipelines.Demonstrated ability to connect business needs to data science tools for continual and scalable use.Exceptional technical writing skills.Ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way.Strong analytical background, preferably statistics part of the academic curriculum.Ability to work independently and with team members from different backgrounds.Excellent attention to detail.Location: This is a hybrid in-office role in Charlotte, NCWe offer a generous compensation and benefits package including:Choice of medical plans with FSA, HRA and HSA optionsCompany-paid dental and life/disability Plans401K with company matchPreferred vendor discountsCompetitive Paid Time OffNo relocation allowance will be considered unless specifically addressed.
