Job Description:Dauphin Way United Methodist Church, Mobile, AL, a church of over 2000 members with a highly visible and active music program, seeks a full-time Director of Music and Worship. A Bachelor’s degree in Church Music, Sacred Music, Organ, Choral Conducting, or equivalent experience is required. A Master’s Degree is preferred. We seek a talented individual with a call to serve the church with excellence and with an understanding that this position will have a great impact upon the worship life of the church. The Director of Music and Worship directs and/or oversees a large Music Ministry that includes choirs for children, youth, adults, and handbells.
The successful candidate will:Have a high level of artistry and proficiency in sacred choral music in the Protestant reform style.Be comfortable with a wide mix of musical styles including, but not limited to, traditional Methodist hymnody, Taize, Classical church choir repertoire, current repertoire, African-American Spiritual, Southern Gospel, Black Gospel, and World Music.Work collegially and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills. Be self-motivated and creative, understanding the importance of music in the overall ministry of the church.Supervise a full-time Associate Director of Music and Worship, all accompanists, directors, and scholarship singers, and coordinate with individual guest instrumentalists and contracted orchestra.Reflect the core values of Dauphin Way United Methodist Church and commit to the mission of the United Methodist Church: to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
