Senior Staff UI Engineer

SailPoint is seeking a Staff UI engineer to join our engineering organization to help drive the design and implementation of our SaaS product. We are looking for an engineer that is passionate about customer experience and has a proven track record of delivering intuitive web UIs for enterprise applications. You will be put in charge of creating technical designs for highly complex features and projects requiring collaboration multiple teams and organizations. You will be expected to collaborate closely with UX, project management, and backend teams to solve customer problems and drive innovation to deliver the best possible experience to our customers. You will work closely with backend teams to help improve API usability on a microservice architecture and help guide the architecture of our platform. You will be a member of a highly agile team tasked with developing new functionality, maintaining and supporting the existing, and help guide the future technology vision of the product. You will be responsible for the effectiveness of multiple UI teams and the impact they make towards the success of our product.

Responsibilities:Architect and implement intuitive and scalable web application UIs using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, CSS, and HTML and other web technologiesDrive the UI architecture and toolset, including build systems, component library, coding, style guides, and best practicesContribute to RFCs and broad architecture decisionsCollaborate with the UX team on user interaction design to help shape the UX of the product based on a balance of customer and technical needs and help guide the future vision of the product’s UIOptimize user interaction workflows across the application to ensure consistency across feature sets and productsGain deep understanding of the company’s multifaceted product lines, ecosystem, and architectureHelp design supporting REST APIs and collaborate closely with microservice teams to define API contracts and help guide the architecture of backend systemsWork closely with product management to provide technical input on features, help define solutions for the product, and help develop delivery roadmapsBreak down engineering work and create estimates based on product requirementsProvide technical leadership across multiple UI engineering teams, communicate technical strategy to engineering teams, and be responsible for their effectiveness and ability to deliver on product commitmentsWork with managers and directors to come up with technology strategy and vision for the improvement of teams, the technology stack, and the productEvangelize modern design patterns and advocate for the adoption of modern technologies for UI teams across the engineering organizationMentor peers and facilitate knowledge transfer to ensure they have all the tools to succeed in their workWork closely with stakeholders, product management, support engineers, and customer success manager to develop a deep understanding of the fundamental problems our customers are experiencing and need solved and applying that knowledge to drive improvementsTake ownership of code quality and help guide best practices for unit, integration, E2E, manual testing, and monitoringInstrument, maintain, and analyze tracking metrics collected at various points within the application to identify pain points and guide improvementsRespond to customer incidents and troubleshoot root cause of application issues

Requirements:8+ years of professional software development experience building scalable UI web applications for SaaS and B2B productsStrong working knowledge of web technology fundamentals including JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, HTML, JSON, REST, AJAX, and HTTPExperience with multiple JavaScript frameworks and tooling such as Angular, React, Webpack, and NodeJSExperience with component-driven development, building and maintaining component libraries, and tools such as StoryBook for documenting and managing UI componentsStrong knowledge of common design patterns such as Redux and NgRxExperience leading complex projects requiring coordination across many teams of multiple disciplinesExperience collaborating with UX and product management to define and scope projectsProven record of delivering highly complex web applications within scope while meeting set timelinesExperience working in and leading an agile/scrum development processExperience onboarding, mentoring, and leading other engineersExperience with one or more Automated UI testing frameworks (Cypress, Jest, Karma, Protractor, Selenium, Jasmine)Knowledge of backend architecture and systemsExcellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:Degree in Computer Science or equivalent, or relevant work experienceStrong experience with Angular, TypeScript, NgRx, NodeJS, and NestJSExperience developing code that adheres to accessibility standards such WCAG 2 and Section 508Familiarity with supporting language localization, i18nFamiliarity with API development and microservice architectureFamiliarity with Amazon Web ServicesFamiliarity with commercial security applications/infrastructure products
