Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tools in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users. Power BI’s core value proposition is to enable end users to get answers & insights from their data through data visualization.

Power BI Reporting & Exploration team's mission is to empower everyone to better understand their data and effectively communicate insights. We are looking for a Front-End Software Engineer to work on modern user interfaces that are performant, reliable, secure, responsive, and accessible. You will apply the latest open-source web technologies, such as React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML5, and D3.

Responsibilities:

Deliver world-class user experiences and planet-scale cloud services to customers in collaboration with architects, UX designers, and product managersDesign, code, test, and operate applications that are performant, reliable, secure, responsive, and accessible UI effectively abstracts customer workflow conceptsMake engineering investments and build reusable components to ship faster with higher quality and consistencyWork with customers to make them successful and understand their unmet needsCollaborate with partner teams to deliver new value in our product and across Microsoft’s productsFoster a culture of excellence, inclusion, collaboration, and customer focusOther: Embody our Culture and ValuesQualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.Other Requirements

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background CheckThis position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

1+ years of industry software engineering experience with HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and a modern web framework (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)Systematic problem solving with clean, modular design thinkingTrack record of excellence in software engineering, including design, coding, code reviews, testing, and devopsExcellent communication and collaboration in a team environmentExperience with building, deploying, and operating applications and services on cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP)Experience with using data visualization technologies (e.g., D3, Highcharts)Growth mindset to learn, seek diverse viewpoints, and stay current with industry trends and techniquesAbility to move and iterate rapidly, work across disciplines, and focus on customersSoftware Engineering IC2 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $81,900 - $160,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $105,600 - $174,600 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
