Director of Sacred Music and Organist

Church of the Holy Spirit, Jefferson City, Missouri, United States, 65109

The Proto-Cathedral of St. Peter has an opening for an Organist & Parish Director of Sacred Music.

St. Peter Church and School is a vibrant historic parish of about 1,500 families located immediately adjacent to the Missouri State Capitol building in Jefferson City.

The primary function of the Organist and Director of Music is to assist the Pastor in all areas of music for the Parish and to work with the school teacher and music director (upon request).

As the Parish Director of Sacred Music, you would oversee one choir that rehearses on Tuesday nights and sings for the weekly 10:00 am Mass from after Labor Day until the Diocesan observation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (the Sunday after Corpus Christi). A low-obligation summer choir (no Tuesday rehearsals) has sung for the Month of July through the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

There is a strong desire of the Parish and the Pastor to start a parish children’s choir that would sing regularly throughout the year. This vision is in its beginning stages, providing an opportunity to develop this with the Pastor.

Please contact the office for a copy of the more detailed job description.

Interested parties should submit a resume (or CV), cover letter, and three references.

(Optional: submit a recording of you directing a choral work as well as a video of you playing a major organ work and/or a hymn of your choice.)
