You're part of a group of talented in-house lawyers and the projects you work on challenge you to think creatively and constructively. You are energetic and collaborative -- ready to partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of Compass’s business and work with employees and agents across the company. Your contributions will be impactful, value driven, and you will play an instrumental role on the Compass Legal Team.Please note that this is a 100% onsite position in our Los Angeles office.At Compass You Will:Serve as one of the primary lawyers responsible for mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, debt financings, and other strategic corporate transactions, working closely with internal business clients and legal subject matter expertsHelp manage and coordinate legal entity management and the legal due diligence processAdvise on legal issues and risks and help ensure compliance with laws and regulationsDraft term sheets, commercial agreements and other ancillary documentation relating to strategic transactions under tight deadlinesCoordinate transaction signings and closingsWork collaboratively with multiple cross-functional teams on post-transaction and integration mattersDrive improvement of standard form agreements, transaction playbooks, and other legal processesAssist with legal trainings for business clients and retrospectives to identify and develop improvementsWhat We Look For:Strong academic credentials including a JD and membership in good standing in at least one state bar (NY or CA bar a plus)2+ years of top-tier law firm experienceBackground in M&A, leveraged finance, or other complex commercial/transactional practiceConfidence operating in a fast-paced environment with the desire to learn the businessAble to manage several simultaneous projects and shift priorities under deadline pressure in a dynamic environmentA team player with low ego who can effectively work with other attorneys and legal professionalsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExceptional written and verbal communication skills and an ability to clearly and simply explain complex ideasCompensation: The base pay range for this position is $135K-$167K annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Bonuses and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of benefits. Base pay is based on market location.
