Rental Manager - Fred Haas Nissan of Tomball
Fred Haas Nissan is seeking a Rental Manager that will oversee the daily operations of the dealership's rental department. The Rental Manager will ensure the department achieves or exceeds all established Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
The Rental Manager is responsible for operating the department effectively within the financial objectives and operational procedures established by management. Additionally, the Rental Manager must manage within budgetary constraints to maintain a profitable department. Risk management, loss prevention, and expense control are core job functions of this position.
Essential Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations and sales functions of the department.
Achieve established goals including fleet utilization, revenue per unit, daily dollar average, and profit per rental day.
Ensure maximum profitability through effective utilization of the fleet and control of rental expenses.
Conduct daily physical fleet checks and rectify anomalies.
Manage rentals to minimize bad debt and maintain proper asset management.
Oversee proper security procedures for keys, equipment, and assets.
Respond to customer inquiries and issues.
Monitor rental agreements to ensure correct rates and expenses are charged and required information is collected and verified.
Maintain productive working relationships and open lines of communication with all internal departments.
Perform fleet management activities such as establishing a unit ordering schedule and providing the Used Vehicle Manager with a list of units ready to sell.
Meet regularly with upper management to discuss current and proposed fleet needs.
Plan, direct, and monitor the preparation of returned vehicles for the next rental to ensure compliance with established quality assurance standards.
Ensure department records and reports are printed daily and filed accordingly.
Keep department procedural manuals and training information files current.
Audit daily and weekly rental receipts and cross-reference with rental agreements.
Complete Monthly Reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Analyze branch activity to determine expenses; recommend and implement expense control solutions.
Prepare and review various daily location and associate reports; recommend and initiate goals and actions.
Oversee services offered to customers at the rental counter, including vehicle rentals and selling of incremental products.
Assist in the development of new associates and the ongoing performance assessment of current associates.
Make periodic sales calls to prospective accounts within assigned PMA locations.
Participate in company marketing efforts and special company projects.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Participate in interviewing, hiring, and training employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; and resolve issues to ensure customer service and quality standards are met.
Supervise one or more employees; carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Recommended Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferably with a concentration in marketing, sales, or business and 1 year of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
Two (2) years in the rental car industry, automotive, or financial services industry preferred.
Two (2) years in a supervisory or management position preferred.
Familiarity with concepts, procedures, and processes typically used in automotive and financial services industries.
High degree of management, planning, and organization skills; demonstrate marketing skills and company product knowledge.
High degree of creativity to drive business revenue.
Demonstrate financial acumen and understanding of financial reporting.
Good organizational, clerical, and verbal communication skills.
