The After School Program Leader provides meaningful and enriching opportunities for youth in YMCA programs that are offered at local elementary and middle schools. The Program Leader will help students develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills through tutoring and mentorship. Program Leaders will provide academic enrichment and tutoring in classroom groups of up to 20 students, as well as organize and provide outdoor recreational activities in the school yards. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Program Site Coordinators and Directors, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.After School Program dates:San Francisco ASP sites: must be able to work August 19, 2024 – June 4, 2025San Mateo ASP sites: must be able to work August 19, 2024 – June 12, 2025Marin ASP sites: must be able to work August 22, 2024 – June 12, 2025The PeninsulaYMCA is seeking After School Program Leaders for these program sites:John Muir Elementary School -680 18th Ave, San Francisco, 94121Park Side Elementary School -1725 Irving St, San Francisco, 94122Belle Air Elementary School -450 Third Avenue, San Bruno, CA 94066Minimum Qualifications

18+ years of age for elementary school programsFor ExCEL/ELOP

sites Associate’s degree or higher, or High School diploma/equivalent, plus any of following:

Completed 48 college units verified by transcriptPassed CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST)Passed District Instructional Aide Exam

For Licensed Childcare Sites : meet any one of following requirements:

6 units completed in early childhood education or child development prior to employment, and enrolled to complete at least 2 units each semester/quarter until further education requirements are met12 units completed in early childhood education or child development core courses verified by transcript (6 of 12 units may be in other applicable subjects), and at least 6 months of experience in a childcare center240 hours of verified training hours or equivalent experience in a youth development programChild Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher (from CCTC)

Experience working with youth (elementary or middle school)Highly motivated to provide quality program opportunities to youthTeam playerKnowledge or expertise in youth developmentComfortable leading physical activities with youthAvailable daily Monday-Friday during youth program hours; shifts vary ~1:00-6:00 pmWilling to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as neededCurrent YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (training available upon hire)TB Test clearanceFingerprint background check clearancePreferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Child Development or related fieldBilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages strongly preferredKnowledge of arts, dance, drama, or sportsAll employees working with the YMCA are considered to have supervisory or disciplinary action relationship over minors.
