DescriptionQwaltec is looking for a Flight Operations Team Lead to support the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) On-Orbit Servicing, Assembly and Manufacturing (OSAM-1) Mission under the Ground System and Mission Operations (GSMO-3) contract. The Flight Operations Team Lead will provide Flight Operations Leadership, Launch and Early Orbit Activity Preparation, and support of successful Mission goals. The candidate must be able to operate with a high level of autonomy, interfacing directly with Mission Operations Managers, Ground System Managers, Mission Directors, and external teams including Project Development Leads (PDLs), Mission Systems Engineers (MSE), Ground System Engineers, Spacecraft Vendors, Payload Teams, etc.Job Description:The Flight Operations Team Lead is in charge of daily operations. All mission operations are performed at their discretion. Routine and daily operations are performed by the Flight Operations Team as delegated by the Flight Lead. The Flight Lead will support the development of core Flight Operations Team shift staffing profile, shift handover process, and reporting, and support Ground Element testing, Mission End-to-End testing, and Mission Readiness testing (which includes simulations and rehearsals).Responsibilities:Prior experience and domain knowledge with:Experience as a Spacecraft Flight Operations Lead, Flight Director, Launch Rehearsal Manager, or Mission Operations Manager on NASA, NOAA, or other space missions.Experience developing the baseline operations approach for all aspects of mission operations including spacecraft Mission Operations Center software in the areas of Real-Time Health and Safety Monitoring, Commanding, Telemetry Processing, Mission Planning (including Timeline and Scheduling Management), Telemetry Trending, and other systems. Knowledge of the following GSFC software is preferred: Advanced Spacecraft Integration & System Test Software (ASIST), Mission Planning System (MPS), Space Network Access System (SNAS), Satellite Tool Kit (STK) scheduler, Integrated Telemetry Analysis Control and Simulation (iTACS), Freeflyer, and the Integrated Trending and Plotting System.Experience supporting mission reviews including the Operations Readiness Review (ORR), Flight Operations Review (FOR), Mission Operations Review (MOR), Ground Element (GE), and Mission Critical Design Reviews (CDRs).Experience developing Flight Operations Team training and certification programs and implementing/utilizing mission configuration management.Previous knowledge of the OSAM-1 Servicing Vehicle, Mission Concept of Operations (ConOps), Mission Phase Plans, and Flight Operations Plan (FOP) or leadership in developing these plans on other missions is not required but may be a benefit.Requirements:Masters Degree in Aerospace Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience with 10+ years of applicable progressively complex spacecraft mission development experience, including support of spacecraft flight systems.Alternatively, 14+ years of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree.
