Job Description

The University of Indianapolis Department of Art & Design is seeking a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor for Art History. Preference and consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate professional experience in Art History with expertise in Museum Studies, and university-level teaching experience. Preference is given to those with a Studio Art and Gallery experience background. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate Art History courses as part of a NASAD-accredited Bachelor of Science Art & Design program. Courses include History of Art I, History of Art II, Gender in Art, Art Since 1900, History of Graphic Design, Print, and Photo, Directed Reading in Art History, Museum Studies, and Gallery Studies.Art History is part of a liberal arts program in the Department of Art & Design and lives alongside BS degree programs in Studio Art, Graphic History, Illustration, Pre-Art Therapy, and Arts Education, as well as a minor in Art History. All programs offer a multidisciplinary approach and a breadth of experiences. The University of Indianapolis is a teaching-centered institution that values service to the department, college, and university. Service in the department includes but is not limited to student advising, portfolio reviews, department events and exhibitions, gallery exhibition installations, assisting with the Permanent Art Collection, etc.Ideal candidates will value and work well collaboratively with faculty from a range of disciplines.
