SET THE COURSE

The Materials Development and Execution Associate is responsible for supporting the Materials Development and Execution team in developing new fabric and trims tied to the Category Sourcing strategy. In addition, the Materials Development and Execution Associate will support print development and execution for Tommy Bahama signature prints, fabric approvals, and sample yardage order and tracking.

BE THE ISLAND GUIDE

Negotiate initial cost, lead-time, and MOQ for new developments.

Determine fabric level SGS testing, request and track results through the development process.

Reserve the initial yardage fabric for the sourcing team for sample making.

Manage salesmen yardage execution and timing.

Work directly with mills to gather fabric detail sheets and ensure data integrity and the accuracy of all fabric details in Flex PLM system.

Request, track, and manage color lab dips or yarn dips, strike off, and handloom per design request.

Manage, create, and maintain sample yardage print and pattern tracking chart throughout the full development season.

Act as a primary point of contact with vendors and suppliers. Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers.

Manage and set up mill and vendor appointments and agendas based on seasonal development needs.

Ensure development plans are aligned with business strategy.

Attend cross-functional and milestone meetings as needed.

Submit new fabric, trim, and print development packages directly to mills and suppliers.

Maintain tracking charts for all developments to ensure Design, Sourcing, and Production counterparts are in the loop of approvals and costing.

Perform other duties as needed to help support the overall business.

ESSENTIALS FOR LIFE IN PARADISE

Generally, 4+ years of experience in material development.

2+ years of experience with negotiating preferred.

Experience with Flex PLM preferred.

Strong MS Office, especially Excel skills preferred.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management and cross-functional teams.

Demonstrated experience negotiating with and managing vendors.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Strong attention to details.

Deadline driven.

Ability to work proactively and problem solve.

Strong time management and organizational skills.

Ability to multitask and work in a high-paced environment.

Excellent analytical skills.

Good judgment.

Multiple factors will vary the applicable rate of pay for this role, including an individual’s experience, knowledge, and skillset, as well as work location and available budget.

Rate Range: $70,000 to $91,750 per year.
