I am working with a food manufacturing company recruiting a Director of Procurement in the Chicago area. Below is an overview:
Director of Procurement – Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain, this role will manage meat procurement for the company domestically and globally managing the entire spend related to meat procurement including poultry, pork, and beef. This role will manage a team of two direct reports. This role will be onsite 5 days per week.
Responsibilities
Develop protein sourcing strategies aligned with company goals.Provide market updates and risk assessments to management.Adjust procurement strategies based on beef, pork, and poultry market conditions.Maintain strong supplier relationships for a reliable protein supply chain.Lead negotiations and renew contracts with major protein suppliers.Monitor market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes.
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s degree is required.10+ years of experience working within a sourcing role related to meat procurementExperience sourcing poultry, pork, or beef on a large-scale level.Experience leading a team
