SUMMARY OBJECTIVE:

Support the Loan Review Program, as assigned, to minimize the impact of losses, assess the quality of the bank's loan portfolio, and ensure that the bank's lending practices conform to established policy and quality lending standards. The primary function of this role requires a heavy reliance on the ability to perform and interpret the financial analysis (e.g., liquidity, leverage, cash flow coverage) of companies and / or individuals. This position is very similar to a Credit Analyst or Portfolio Manager role. This position is a method of monitoring the institution's existing portfolio.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Attain the objectives required in the loan review policy and procedures.

2. Prepare accurate analyses (review format) of existing borrowers from an unbiased perspective to ensure the accuracy of the risk ratings. This includes but is not limited to evaluation and interpretation of liquidity, leverage, and operating metrics; calculation and discussion of cash flow coverage; consideration of management, industry, rent roll, and collateral.

3. Perform a continuous review of all loan types and commitments in compliance with Loan Review policy requirements for the purpose of classifying loans, determining degree of attention required, and identifying actual and potential credit problems in a timely fashion.

4. Monitor overall and specific loan portfolios for significant changes in operations, underwriting, credit quality and relationship manager performance and report and discuss with supervisor.

5. Prepare assigned monthly and quarterly graphs, reports, and memos, some of which are disbursed internally and/or to the bank's loan committees and Audit Committee.

6. Discuss and counsel relationship managers on specific loan situations as needed.

7. Recommend as appropriate, modifications to the existing procedures and note significant trends if necessary.

8. Update procedures and recommend loan review policy changes as needed.

9. Keep the supervisor advised on progress of loans reviewed and potential problem loans or problem situations.

10. Validate the accuracy of management reports prepared and used in the respective lending departments.

11. Maintain adequate contact with other "peer" banks and appropriate government banking agencies to keep abreast of latest innovations and requirements in the Loan Review function.

SUPERVISORY RESONSIBILITY:

This position requires no supervision of employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee is frequently required to: 1) type or otherwise work with fingers; 2) talk, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word which includes activities in which the employee must convey detailed or important oral instructions to other workers or clients accurately, loudly, or quickly; 3) hear, i.e., perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with/without correction with the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make determinations in sound; and 4) see, with required abilities including viewing a computer monitor and extensive reading.

Sedentary work may require occasionally lifting to 10 pounds and/or moving up to 25 pounds. This work involves sitting most of the time with walking.

TRAVEL:

No travel is required except for possible training and/or conferences.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or related field with courses in accounting (required at least the intermediate level), finance, and economics.Three years related experience required.Preference is for credit analysis or lending experience.
