Major Function:
The Commercial/Ag Loan Officer is responsible for development of new client relationships, retention and expansion of existing client relationships that will promote and enhance growth and profitability. This position must maintain sound underwriting and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and bank policies.
Key Job Responsibilities:Generate new business and profitable loan growth through effective, proactive calling efforts on existing and potential clients, including presenting banking proposals to prospects.Build strong relationships with employees, existing customers, and centers of influence to facilitate referral opportunities.Network, develop partnerships, and actively participate in community organizations and activities (often in leadership roles) acting to enhance the image of the organization.Originate, underwrite, and close new and renewed commercial/ag loans.Review and analyze credit requests to conform to underwriting guidelines.Structure standard and non-standard credit requests and seek approval for exceptions to credit policy.Prepare and close loans in accordance with regulations and documentation guidelines.Maintain complete credit files with current financial information.
Manage existing loan portfolio to retain high credit quality and compliance with all laws and regulations relating to the lending function and internal loan policy. Maintain knowledge of commercial lending, agriculture lending, retail banking and wealth management products and services to enhance presentation to existing clients and prospects during cross-sell efforts. Effectively manage challenged credits towards rehabilitation or exit. Assure the consistent delivery of customer service to maximize customer satisfaction and retention. Identify customers' needs through effective listening skills, asking clarifying questions, and communicating opportunities to the customer, referring to other lines of business as appropriate. Represent the bank and promote a positive image through active community involvement. Cultivate a culture that supports our core values through innovation, creativity, teamwork and diversity.
Education & ExperienceBachelor's degree in business, finance, or related field.A minimum of 3 years of previous lending experience, preferred.Prior experience with SBA lending is advantageous, but not required.Prior experience with Moody's is advantageous, but not required.Prior experience with FSA lending is advantageous, but not required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
