We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our finance team in Lansing, MI. Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will oversee all accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining strong internal controls. Experience with Sage / Intacct software and familiarity with the cannabis industry are advantageous.Key Responsibilities:Manage all accounting functions: billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and inventory accounting.Lead and mentor the accounting team, fostering high performance and professional growth.Ensure timely and precise financial reporting in compliance with GAAP and company policies.Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to the CFO and executive team.Develop and implement internal controls to protect company assets and maintain financial data integrity.Coordinate annual audit processes, including audit schedule preparation and liaison with external auditors.Analyze monthly accounting data and generate financial reports and statements.Establish and uphold financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including tax filings.Collaborate cross-functionally to support overall company objectives.Assist in budgeting and forecasting to facilitate strategic decision-making.Utilize Sage / Intacct software to optimize accounting processes and reporting capabilities.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.Minimum 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a managerial role.Thorough understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.Experience within the cannabis industry is advantageous.Proficiency in Sage / Intacct software is highly desirable.Strong leadership, team management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Meticulous attention to detail and organizational proficiency.Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.Effective in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Benefits:Competitive salary with performance-based bonuses.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off, holidays, and employee discounts.Opportunities for professional development and career advancement.
