Role Overview: CDL Class A Truck Driver
As a CDL Class A Driver at United Infrastructure Group (UIG), you will be responsible for operating and safely driving vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs, often with a lowboy trailer. Your duties will include transporting goods, ensuring secure loads, and adhering to all safety and regulatory requirements. This role requires excellent driving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining safety standards.
Typical Duties include but are not limited to:
Fully understand how to operate and safely drive your assigned vehicle (with lowboy trailer)Drive trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) over 26,000 lbs.Pull a towed weight exceeding 10,000 lbs.Ensure trailer hitch is properly and securely attached to the tractor unitTransport goods from the place of origin to assigned destinationPick-up loads and organizes goods in an ordered, logical mannerEnsure contents are properly secured inside of the truck to prevent breakage or damageSafely and efficiently handle and unload goods at selected destinationsAssist in mapping delivery routesStay on a predetermined route and ensure timely deliveriesCommunicate with dispatch as neededConfirm contents of each shipment load matches the manifest documentPerform inspections of your vehicle prior to and following each tripCheck weather conditions and road reports before departureAlways ensure your vehicle is kept cleanMaintain and service vehicle as needed (refuel, change oil, tire pressure, repairs, etc.)Notify managers of any major maintenance or delivery issues encounteredFollow delivery schedule and rest at appropriate timesMaintain detailed driving and delivery logsTrack and report working hoursAdhere to company rules and regulationsObey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to the weather/road conditionsComply with ICC and DOT regulationsMake safety a priority at all timesSkills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:
3+ years surveyor experienceCDL Class A w/ Tanker and Hazmat EndorsementRespond quickly to foreman's directions.Must observe safety procedures and report any potentially unsafe conditions to management.Knowledge of water truck and other road construction equipment.Knowledge of road construction materials and road construction processes.Experience in construction preferred.Valid Driver's License and good driving record required.Ability to use a smartphone, iPad, and computer.Must follow policies and procedures and support UIG's mission.REQUIREMENTS: ALL Applicants must be:
18 years of AgeAble to pass a Drug TestLegally Eligible to Work in the USOpen to working different shifts if needed by the projectMust have reliable transportation to and from jobsite every workday (driver's license preferred)Must provide own hand tools (excluding power tools)Willingness to travel for project requirements (multi-state opportunities)
