Position Summary:
The Lead Avionics/Electrical Engineer is responsible for providing guidance and direction to the Avionics/Electrical Engineering team. This include the design and integration of electrical and avionics systems in current and proposed new aircraft designs. Review & provide guidance on electrical drawings such as wiring diagrams, harness assemblies, schematics, and installation drawings to assure compliance with FAA regulatory requirements. Provide technical direction and supervision to less experienced engineers and drafters involved in the design of on-aircraft avionics and electrical systems.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepare, review, and/or contribute to preparation of certification documentation such as: Project Specific Certification Plans (PSCP), Compliance Check Lists (CCL), Company Avionics Test Plans, Company Electrical Systems Test Plans, Certification Test Plans (Avionics & Electrical).Prepare, review, and/or contribute to the preparation of Avionics Compliance Reports.Prepare, review and/or contribute to the preparation of Electrical Systems Compliance ReportsReview and/or check drawings to assure compliance with FAA regulatory requirements & engineering design criteria.Use vendor technical guidance (installation manuals, drawings, etc.) to prepare company production drawings of electrical assemblies, harness assemblies, schematics and installations to assure FAA regulatory compliance.Prepare Engineering Orders (EOs) in accordance with the Engineering Policies and Procedures Manual (EPPM) for the approval and release of engineering drawings.Prepare Engineering Work Orders (EWOs) for the purpose of modifying and installing avionics and/or electrical equipment and installations.Author Piper process specifications, purchasing specifications, or other technical documentation as required.Create electrical load analysis, battery capacity analysis, and compliance reports in support of FAA certification.Work with other company departments (Flight Test, Manufacturing, Methods, Purchasing, Sales and Marketing) as necessary to support the companys goals and objectives while assuring compliance with FAA regulatory requirements.Work with suppliers and vendors to select any peripheral equipment necessary to support program goals and schedules, and compliance with FAA regulatory requirements.Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support for manufacturing, flight line and flight test departments as necessaryProvide technical support to Production, Customer Service, Quality Control, Purchasing and Marketing departments as requiredEducation and Experience:
This position requires a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of ten years of experience in avionics/electrical system design, installation and support. A working knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) is necessary to perform the duties of this position.
Familiarization with Garmin Integrated flight decks, G1000/G3000 is preferred.Proficient with computer aided design tools - AutoCad and Siemens NX/Unigraphics.Capital Mentor Graphics experience is preferred.
