Overview
The veterinary clinical pathologists provide digital cytology and consultative services to veterinary clientele in support of HeskaView+ Specialists Services and support clinician - focused educational initiatives.

Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:Describe and interpret cytologic preparations from fine needle aspirates, body fluids and hematologic specimens to determine the cause of disease or death in animalsPrepare pathology narrative reports of cytologic, hermatologic and clinical pathology data.Dictating medical evaluations using Dragon and other dictating softwareConsult with Veterinarians about diseases detected in sample tissues and fluids based on test results and clinical findings through phone, email, or communication platform (Zoom, Teams)Participate in Pathology meetingsDescribe, interpret and generate reports for research samples in companion and laboratory animals, including cerebrospinal fluid, bone marrow aspirates and hematologic data.Provide medical second opinions as requested by clients or from colleagues.Describe and interpret histopathologic findings from bone marrow core biopsies.Provide scientific and technical advice to laboratory staff and Veterinarians with regard to sample collection and submission.Stay current on veterinary and medical practiced through continuously reviewing journal publications, text books and attending continuing education conferences and seminarsParticipate in the Quality Control programMaintain proficiency in clinical diagnostic skillsAssist in other duties relevant to Clinical Pathology and other lab servicesMay be asked to participate in enterprise initiatives special projects or other duties as assigned.Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
:
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree or equivalentDiplomate of American College of Veterinary PathologistsMust be licensed to practice veterinary medicine in respective stateKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.The ability to think outside the box, with a keen attention to detail.Analytical and problem solving skillsAbility to prioritizeStrong passion for helping people and animalsOrganized with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environmentPrevious experience in a lab environment a plusProven ability to work effectively with clients and management is requiredThe ability to work effectively remotely with minimal supervisionPrevious experience with Dragon software a plus.Previous experience with Dicom viewers a plusFluency in EnglishPHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Extensive sitting, phone, microscope and computer useExtend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingersOccasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouchMay be required to lift, move, and carry up to 15 lbs.Specific vision abilities required including close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Hearing ability to effectively communicate via the telephone and in personAbility to communicate verbally on the telephone and in personExtended hours may be neededWORK ENVIRONMENT:The employee will primarily work in a typical office environment including use of cubicles, computers and overhead lighting. Temperature extremes will be minimal to nonexistent. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee will be required to use a computer, spreadsheets, data base management, email, and the Internet. The employee is frequently required to use a calculator; fax, copy machine, and phone system.
