Reliability Engineer

SpaceX, Redmond, Washington, United States, 98052

SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal of enabling human life on Mars.

RELIABILITY ENGINEER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Translate subsystem/component reliability requirements into performance metrics with testable targets.

Build reliability prediction models /Finite Element Models to evaluate product functional performance over mission life conditions and generate MTFF predictions at subsystems and system levels.

Use Physics-of-Failure based approach to develop and implement accelerated tests to mitigate risks and qualify designs

Apply Design of Experiments (DOE) methods to develop test plans to ensure product robustness and performance

Lead reliability test planning, methodology and execution.

Drive analysis processes for all failures discovered during reliability testing.

Make Reliability assessments of component/ subsystem designs, and influence manufacture / technology selections to ensure mission life reliability targets achieved

Analyze and model implementation options to inform electronics design for reliability, including:

Material selections; PCB laminates, features (vias, pad, stack up, etc.) specifications, finishes, Component attach; Solder chemistry, reflow profile Underfill selections

Component package selection, material, design, optimization
