Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our non-profit organization. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, managing grants, and providing financial analysis to support organizational decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for our organization's mission.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.

Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.

Prepare and analyze financial statements, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP or other relevant standards for non-profits.

Manage grant-related financial activities, including budgeting for grant proposals, tracking grant expenditures, and ensuring compliance with grant requirements and reporting.

Coordinate with auditors for annual audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including IRS filings for tax-exempt status (Form 990 in the U.S.).

Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on accounting principles, systems, and procedures.

Collaborate with other departments such as fundraising, program management, and administration to support overall organizational goals and initiatives.

Evaluate and recommend improvements or upgrades to accounting systems and technology to enhance efficiency and data integrity.

Interpret financial data and trends to provide insights to senior management and the board of directors for informed decision-making.

Communicate financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders with varying levels of financial expertise, including board members, donors, and external auditors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA certification preferred).

Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 1 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements for non-profit organizations.

Experience with grant management and reporting is highly desirable.

Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms).

Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
