Summary:

Perform tasks involving physical labor indoors and outdoors, movement of material, equipment, and parts between production areas, operating hand/power tools of all types: a variety of equipment and instruments. May clean and prepare sites and project locations.May assist other craft workers. This position will require 75% travel to remote areas in the state; hours worked while in travel status could be up to 12 hours per day.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

:

(including but not limited to)Locates and moves materials, equipment, and parts between work areas of project location/site to expedite processing of goods, according to pre-determined schedules, needs, and prioritiesGeneral knowledge in the use of manual hand tools and power hand toolsLocating underground utilities with a shovelWorking in confined spacesCapability to work in a remote camp environment for extended periods of up to 8 weeksProvide assistance to staff in the field/site locationGeneral manual labor including the use of hand tools and providing manual labor support for project activities and site location.Capable of operating all-terrain vehiclesMay assist heavy equipment operator as a ground support person. Identify any hazards as observed for the safety of personnel and equipmentRequires the ability to properly wear, use, and maintain personal respirator equipment and/or other forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) on HAZWOPER sitesMonitor job site for hazards and maintain a safe working environmentPossess good housekeeping skills with attention to detail on environmental hazards to reduce personal exposure and potential spreading of hazardous contaminants.Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materialsParticipate in Ahtna medical surveillance program, in accordance with 29CFR 1910.120Perform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:

High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)Valid Driver's LicenseKnowledge of construction machines and tools; including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance, and the practical application of useAbility to pass HAZWOPER physical and respirator fit testAbility to complete pre-employment background check and drug screeningPreferred Qualifications:

40-Hour HAZWOPER Course and 8-Hour HAZWOPER refresher with the last 12 monthsCurrent Alaska Department of Labor Certificate of Fitness for Asbestos AbatementLead Awareness course completionKnowledge and experience with Alaska Native culturesShareholder Preference:

Frequent lifting, sitting, standing, stooping for prolonged periods of time, using hands/fingers requiring dexterity, should have good hand-eye coordination and motion control in coordination with handling tools, equipment, and other related components.Reaching with hands and arms for items above and below sight level, talking, hearing, and seeing (up close, at a distance, along the periphery, with depth, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus); walking from place to place within the project location with occasional use of stairs and no elevator available; bending, pushing, pulling, and standing for up to 12 hours.Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds such as small electrical components, equipment, and other materials.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Work Schedule: Varies as business/operational needs dictate
