Associate Director: Decarbonization Projects and Programs

2050 Partners is seeking mission-driven Associate Directors to join our team in fully remote roles. In this role, you will provide strategic direction and day-to-day oversight for all aspects of assigned decarbonization consulting projects. We are searching for team-members who are passionate about understanding client pain points and delivering pragmatic solutions; dedicated to our purpose of shortening the path to carbon neutrality; and enthusiastic about growing with our dynamic consulting firm.
We are seeking to hire multiple candidates with diverse expertise so that we can align strengths and interests with different projects. Initial assignments will include one or more of the following project areas:
State building codes advancement and advocacy (energy and green codes in multiple states)National model building codes advancement and advocacy (ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC)State and national appliance standards and test procedure advancement and advocacyBuilding performance standards - local, state, and nationalLocal reach/stretch codesDecarbonization initiatives and researchElectric vehicle charging infrastructureCalifornia Market Transformation Administrator (CalMTA) program engineering & technical assessmentResponsibilities include:
Be a trusted advisor for our clients by providing pragmatic advice based on defensible data and analysisOversee all aspects of multiple projects including technical research, client engagement, subcontractor identification and management, and external stakeholder engagement including:
Planning and directing primary and secondary researchProcuring energy-using equipment and laboratory testing timeDeveloping laboratory and field investigationsFostering coalition-buildingCoordinating legal, regulatory, and policy reviews
Ensure high-quality deliverables, including reports and presentationsSupervise and support professional development of internal team membersContribute to business development and proposal writingContribute to internal strategic planning and operations supportDesired Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in engineering or technical field(s) is required12+ years relevant experienceConsulting experience and mindset: comfort leading and providing strategic direction for complex projects with a problem-solving orientation that prioritizes client needsAbility to learn and apply new skills across interdisciplinary fields, including technology assessments, engineering, economics, statistics, and policyHighest ethical standardsProject managementStaff supervision track recordAbility to collaborate well with people at all levels within an organizationGreat initiative, creativity, and curiosity; work well both on your own and as part of teamExcellent communication and presentation skillsStrong attention to detailConfidence, enthusiasm, humility, and discretionWillingness for periodic travelDesire and ability to work remotelyDesired Experience*:
