Structural Steel Erection Estimator

GPAC is seeking a knowledgeable Structural Steel Erection Estimator for immediate consideration. GPAC's client is a full service, turn-key construction company specializing in all erection-oriented projects. They specialize in various commercial and industrial complex steel structures.

Duties:Review of construction documents (plans and specifications)Making a material take -off, calculating Labor and Material costs to develop an estimate and bid proposal.Works the entire life cycle of a bid from bid invitation to finalizing bid proposal for submission to customer.Executes take-offs of construction documents.Possesses a general understanding of metals erection phases, time units for various erection phasesResponsibilities:

Understand the project and its requirementsDetermine key variables for cost and other estimatesConduct research to obtain data on labor costs, materials, production times etc.Use software for data analysis, forecasting and budgetingPerform risk analysisCreate and submit estimate reports or bids to appropriate persons (project managers, clients, bidding competitions etc.)Build relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, engineers etc.)Provide consultation on planning (schedules, manpower needs etc.)Explore documentation in order to gain a deeper understanding of the project requirementsSelect, measure and track important metricsPrepare relevant and reliable forecastsCreate and present reports to upper managementAnalyze and evaluate offersBuild and maintain long-term relationships with the key vendorsRead blueprints and analyze all other applicable documents in order to prepare estimatesCollaborate with contractors, engineers, and architects during estimate creation in order to ensure overall accuracyAct as the final say in the calculation and adjustment of estimatesPresent estimates to clients in a timely and polite mannerRecommend cost-reduction options for the companyAssist sales team in final project preparation transactionsMaintain thorough records of all project documentation including estimates, sales receipts, and project completion documentation

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Proficient with design drawings, architectural & structural drawings, & project specs

• Strong analytic abilities

• Proficient in mathematical skills

• Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, & QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise Solutions

• Understanding of construction documents, change orders, & requests for information (RFI’s)
