As a member of Coverys' executive leadership team, the
Chief Financial Officer ("CFO")
will lead the Global finance function supporting Coverys' growing business. The CFO will provide strategic and tactical support to the CEO and senior leadership team and drive the organization's financial results. This position will be responsible for the financial well-being of the operation, including strategy, analysis, reporting, financial controls, budgeting, resource allocation and compliance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Operate as a strategic business partner to Coverys' CEO and leadership team, working alongside them to grow and evolve the business, organically and prescriptively.Establish and maintain operational and financial controls and internal safeguards for the assets of the organization.Oversee the organization's enterprise actuarial reserving function and the strategic budgeting process, aligning current operations with future company objectives. This includes creating a long-term financial plan that integrates strategy, enterprise risk and resource allocation to enhance and sustain the company's financial position.Partner with the revenue generating portions of the business to provide a strong financial perspective that operates as both a check and sounding board for potential and existing business and M&A opportunities.Partner with members of the Coverys leadership team across the spectrum of deal activity, from initial strategy setting to the vetting of potential opportunities, through the execution of transactions, to ensure effective completion.Develop, prepare and ensure timely execution of an array of management information reports that advise management as to periodic results and work with management directly to optimize current business results and evaluate new initiatives. Separately, lead the preparation and presentation of timely and accurate monthly, and as needed, financial reports to internal and external constituencies, as well as the Board of Directors and regulators.Develop and manage ongoing strategic and operating plans, including leading the annual operational budget process, collaborating with business leadership to ensure goals are met.Build and develop a financial team to ensure performance of the finance function, including direction of the treasury and controller roles.Partner with the Chief Underwriting Officer to manage the company's reinsurance treaty program.Partner with the Chief Investment Officer to manage the company investment strategy to support and grow the business.Ensure the timely and successful completion of financial and regulatory audits, reporting activities to leadership and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors to ensure compliance with Board policies.Manage the organization's corporate and professional insurance programs.Education, Experience, Competencies & Values
Extensive P&C insurance financial experience (minimum of 10 years) and track record as a proven CFO .CPA and/or MBA are preferred.Experience with international P&C insurance highly preferred.Must have the leadership presence to effectively partner with senior business leaders and the Board of Directors, possessing strong communication skills to influence both internal and external stakeholders.Must be knowledgeable across insurance taxation, investments, reinsurance, banking, statutory financial reporting and systems. In addition, have experience with risk, compliance, and tax.Demonstrated leadership and management skills. Ability and commitment to continually develop team members, both technically and professionally.Ability to demonstrate well-reasoned insights on complex finance and accounting issues related to the business and its near- and long-term objectives. Exhibit the intellectual abilities, analytical skills, and sound business judgment to make decisions in the best interest of the business.Ability to display a strong service orientation, understanding the needs of both internal and external customers, creating systems and processes to address the needs of each.Demonstrate a bias for results while serving as a strategic partner to the business and leadership team. Strong sense of accountability, including the ability to establish compelling goals and performance objectives, and the ability to motivate while following through on commitments and deadlines. Exhibit the ability to make decisions and necessary course corrections based on available information and analysis.Excellent at building strong and sustainable working relationships and be a team player who can quickly and accurately assess critical needs for improving individual and team performance.Must be an experienced, transparent, and engaging communicator with good listening skills. Able to understand and distill complex financial matters. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Effectively communicate in a meaningful manner and will convey a strong sense of executive presence across the organization.Ability to travel, as applicable.
Annual base salary range is $385,000 - $450,000. Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors that are unique to each candidate including location, skill set, experience, qualifications and education.
