This position will be responsible for the direct supervision of all non-Outdoor Education programs and program staff, including weekend retreats, family camps, community events, and summer retreat groups.

Candidates must have experience in customer relations, be able to respond to requests in a timely manner, and have a sense of order and presentation. Must have organizational, interpersonal, managerial, decision-making skills. Applicant must be willing and able to manage controversial situations; manage large number of programs, assignments, and tasks simultaneously. Ability to speak comfortably in front of large groups; handle difficult individuals, stressful situations, and take initiative necessary in dealing with children and parents. Ability to exercise discriminating and independent judgment. Detail oriented, self-starter who must have ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships by promoting and demonstrating caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility with staff, volunteers, YMCA members, program participants, and the general public.

This Director maintains relationships with all guests, Board members, volunteers, campers, camper parents, donors, camp staff, and vendors. In addition, maintain relationships with association and branch staff - especially Association staff and branch teen leaders. It is expected that the incumbent is involved with a community organization (such as The Chamber, Rotary, Lions, etc.).

Responsibilities

Recruitment and Reservation:

Manage the recruitment, reservation, and accounts payable processes for groups utilizing the camp.

Service Provision:

Ensure the provision of high-quality service to groups using the campsite, meeting and exceeding their expectations.

Marketing and Promotion:

Develop and distribute marketing materials, meet with potential groups, make presentations at events, and actively promote the camp as an ideal natural environment for various events.

Supervision and Staff Development:

Supervise Group and Family Camp activities and programs, conduct staff reviews, hold staff meetings, and provide ongoing training to ensure continuous staff development.

Communication and Teamwork:

Work closely with all camp staff to communicate group needs effectively and address concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Quality Improvement:

Lead the staff team in continuous quality improvement initiatives to strengthen branch operations and promote effective teamwork.

Special Events and Programs:

Take the lead in developing and implementing the July fireworks event, and provide assistance in challenge course facilitation and summer camp/trip transportation.

Budget Management:

Develop and monitor the budget to meet expectations for the branch's financial status.

Requirements

Diverse background in recruiting, scheduling, and supporting groups at campsites.

Strong skills in multitasking, communications, and customer relations.

Proven ability to motivate and lead staff and volunteers effectively.

Experience in supervision, staff selection, training, and evaluation.

Capability to work with individuals and organizations delivering onsite programs.

Willingness to obtain and maintain necessary training for the position.

Ability to obtain a CDL for driving the camp bus.
