We are seeking a casual

Research Program Assistant

who will be involved in data collection, data entry, and operational functions for a research program.

Specific Duties & ResponsibilitiesCollect data via abstraction from paper and electronic medical recordsMaintain logs of patient screening, treatments, and visitsPerform data entry, data management, and calculations using a computerized database, word processing, and spreadsheet software. Review data input for accuracy and completenessActively communicate and update supervising coordinators, collaborators, administrators, clinicians, and/or program leaders on patient enrollment/treatment/eligibility and data collection status via verbal and written communicationIdentify appropriate patients for clinical programCommunicate with coordinators and collaboratorsMaintain filing system for electronic and paper-based patient recordsMaintain compliance with HIPAA guidelinesAttend regular group meetings (weekly or monthly)Obtain consent and HIPAA approvals from eligible patientsAdminister standardized surveys to patients or their proxies via phone, or via in-patient, clinic or home visitsCall patients with reminders of their appointmentsConduct standardized assessments of patients via in-patient, clinic or home visitsEscort patients through the hospital during any visitSet up and take down equipment for patient testingPerform literature searches and organize data for program-related reports and papersPrepare study documents for IRB submission, as neededFollow all written and unwritten program practices, procedures, and protocols.Organize and file patient records, prepare and maintain program materials

Carry out duties and responsibilities with limited supervision and ask for clarification when needed regarding data quality and integrity issues.

Prepare weekly report of work hours and activities for review by the supervisor

Complete all HIPAA and related courses and successfully complete appropriate exams within two weeks of start date.

Other duties as assigned.

Know the informal policies, procedures and practices necessary to conduct the normal functions of the job.

Minimum QualificationsHigh School Diploma or graduation equivalent.Some related experience.Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred QualificationsSome college courses.
