The OpportunityFlock Safety is looking to add a Senior Software Engineer, Android Video to our Device Software Android Apps team.
No UI components here!
We run on headless custom Android devices. Our Engineering team is made up of driven people who are responsible for all of the code running on a variety of devices Flock deploys in the real world. They enable the whole experience by writing applications that reliably capture, process, and upload data for years at a time without needing human interaction to keep them running.
The SkillsetWe're looking for people with:
Demonstrated experience with embedded software design and programming in C/C++
At least 2+ years of experience developing camera, video, gstreamer, ffmpeg, image processing applications
Experience with embedded hardware video processing & development
Knowledge of Android application development, methodologies, design patterns
NDK and Kotlin experience OR strong Java skills with the ability to learn Kotlin
Have the ability to read through a large existing codebase and adapt quickly
Experience building and shipping custom Android devices
Have worked on other mobile application frameworks
Possess strong debug skills and experience with debugging custom Android HW
Have experience with architecture, design, documentation
Skilled in JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Gerrit, Git/GitHub

Support the launch of new products by developing video and networking applications on a headless embedded system
Expose controls for customizing camera configurations to admin portal
The First 60 Days
Work with device, cloud, hardware, and solutions engineering teams to build out initial product feature set based on early customer feedback
Develop device support for customizing device network configurations
Develop device support for install and configuration experience from installer app
90 Days & Beyond
Work with engineering and product teams to define, develop, and support features on new embedded video platform as it enters the market with early customers
Provide embedded application support for implementation of Machine Learning edgeML features

The Panel:
Learn more about the team, responsibilities, and workflows. You should be prepared to speak about past projects, how you collaborate and communicate with others, and how you live our values. You will meet with several teammates and cross-functional partners. Engineers should expect a technical assessment through coding interviews or architecture discussions. Your recruiter will provide more details to ensure you are fully prepared for your big day.
The Executive Review:
A chance to meet a leader within the Device Software team. They will be looking to get to know you better, understand your motivations, and understand your technical background. Be prepared to ask well-thought-out questions about the company, culture, and more.
The PerksSalary & Equity:
In this role, you’ll receive a starting salary of $150,000-$190,000 as well as stock options.
