Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking a CEI Senior Inspector for Construction Engineering Inspections. The candidate should possess the ability to be the sole representative of the client while on site or may work together with others inspecting construction methods and workmanship to ensure contractor constructs improvements in accordance with plans and specifications.
Responsibilities:Under the general supervision of the Project Administrator perform highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout including making, and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field testsCoordinate and manage lower level inspectorsMaintain daily reports of inspection work along with detail records of project progressReview Contract documents to verify compliance plans and specificationsCoordinate materials sampling and verification testing and verifying sufficient testing has been performed in MACCoordinate with contractors' staff and effectively communicate with all partiesPerform standard mathematical calculationsAttend and participate as needed in project meetingsRequired Skills and Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in construction inspection, two (2) years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection with the exception of Complex Category 2 (CC2) bridge structures or a Civil Engineering degree and one (1) year of road & bridge CEI experience with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one yearMust have supervised two or more inspectors and must have been directly responsible for all inspection requirements related to the construction operations assigned.Working knowledge of mathematics in both algebra, geometry, trigonometry and the ability to apply formulas.Proficient in the use of iPad, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox, SiteManager, MAC and/or OneDrive.Experienced with FDOT construction inspection and proceduresMust possess good interpersonal, coordination and communication skillsAbility and willingness to work either day or night shifts, weekends and/or flexible schedules as required to support the project requirementsAbility to accept assignments requiring extended travelHighly-motivated and able to work independently, use own judgment and make good decisions.Ability to perform required testing and maintain detailed reportsAbility to read and interpret roadway, bridge and structure plans, standards and contract specificationsMust be able to walk over rough and uneven terrain and be able to stand up to 12 hours a day on occasion.Must have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel and twist, use hands to grasp and arms to reach, to raise hands above head, to sit, climb and balance and to work in confined spaces and heights with adequate vision to perform tasksMust be able to lift and carry up-to 70 pounds, on occasionAbility to work outside in various weather conditionsValid Driver's license with good driving record and ability to drive
