PIC Product Integration Engineer

The Photonic Integration Circuit (PIC) group develops and manufactures chips that are the heart of Infinera’s terabit-scale digital optical transport networks. The PIC Product Integration Team is looking for a motivated individual and a good team player to fill the role of a Product Integration Engineer. The team is responsible for quality and reliability of existing PIC products as well as for transitioning new photonic chip designs into manufacturing. In the position of Product Integration Engineer, you are expected to support PIC products through data analysis and device physics understanding. You will be responsible for quality and reliability as well as improvements in yield and manufacturability of PIC products using your skills and knowledge of statistical data analysis, semiconductor device physics, photonics, semiconductor processing, and testing. You will be working with different functional teams to troubleshoot and improve processes. You will contribute to a variety of activities including test data analysis, failure analysis, yield improvement, qualification programs, and reliability surveillance.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Include:

Responsible for quality and reliability of PIC products.

Disposition and troubleshoot material active in our production line, based on knowledge of electrical tests and test methods, semiconductor device physics, correlation with fab process and reliability surveillance data.

Track/coordinate parts for shipment, qualifications, reliability studies, etc.

Support next-generation PIC platform development and participate in technology development, transfer, and ramp activities to meet yield, reliability, cost, and device performance goals.

Initiate, carry out and assist in yield improvement projects.

Document processes and changes in the manufacturing line.

Education & Experience Necessary For Success:

MS or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or other related engineering field with minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience.

Experience in related industry.

Understanding of semiconductor processes, device physics, and photonics.

Familiarity (direct experience preferred) with III-V process technologies required for fabrication, characterization, and testing of optoelectronic devices and circuits.

Knowledge of statistical analysis and DOE principles.

Hands-on experience with semiconductor processing, electrical and optical test equipment, metrology, and photonic device characterization.

Knowledge of failure analysis techniques related to semiconductors and familiarity with failure modes in III-V semiconductor components.

Experience with product engineering desired, including NPI, product specifications, quality assurance.

Experience with database SQL queries desired.

Experience with Matlab, JMP, or other similar software packages desired.

Good communications skills and ability to present data, ideas, and recommendations to a diverse audience.

Strong problem-solving and root cause identification skills.

Ability to work with a diverse engineering team such as epitaxy, fab engineering, test, reliability, product engineering, and development.

Ability to organize data and keep track of a multitude of simultaneous projects and deadlines.
