The

Business Development Manager

at Bunzl Retail Services (BRS) will play a pivotal role in driving new customer acquisition and generating successful new account growth. This self-starter position demands a high-activity seller with a strategic mindset to create and execute selling strategies within the BRS new business development framework. The ideal candidate will excel in identifying, qualifying, cultivating, and closing new prospects, ensuring that all client financial, operational, and business goals are met.

Responsibilities:

Embody and promote the BRS company culture in all interactions.

Develop and implement effective selling strategies for new account generation within the BRS framework.

Build a robust pipeline of new business opportunities by identifying, qualifying, and nurturing prospects through outcome-based selling methods.

Maintain regular communication with leads and utilize CRM software to track and report weekly sales activities, ensuring data is consistently updated.

Consistently meet or exceed monthly financial and new business development targets.

Manage contract negotiations, navigate complex decision-making processes, and address objections to secure new business.

Work with cross-functional teams to develop and present value-based proposals, building strong client relationships and ensuring alignment with desired outcomes.

Provide detailed weekly and monthly reports on pipeline status, sales activities, and key metrics.

Identify and attend industry events, tradeshows, and conferences to generate qualified leads, and report on event outcomes.

Stay informed on market trends, competitor activities, and best practices in business development.

Assist other sales and marketing functions as needed to drive overall business growth.

MEASUREMENT OF SUCCESS

Meet or exceed annual new business development goals, including sales targets and margin objectives.

Effectively manage the sales pipeline, ensuring consistent progression through stages and accurate business forecasting.

Requirements:

High School diploma or GED equivalent required

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field from an accredited university is preferred.

Minimum 5 years of proven success in sales and/or business development in a client-facing environment, preferably within retail.

Demonstrated ability to independently identify and prioritize sales opportunities.

Strong financial and analytical capabilities to generate insights and drive sales strategies.

Excellent presentation/communication skills.

Proven ability to influence and engage stakeholders and customers and interact successfully at all levels.

Experience in retail supply chain, distribution, operations, and/or e-commerce is preferred.

Travel between 25%-50%.
