Join SSOE as an Electrical Engineering Department Manager and lead, mentor, and inspire a dynamic team of electrcial engineers, designers, and support staff that are experienced in the areas of electrical systems, instrumentation & controls, life safety, telecommunication, and fire suppression systems. This role offers the opportunity to build and mentor a dynamic team that plays a crucial role in developing complex designs for state-of-the-art industrial and high-tech manufacturing facilities for the world's leading high-tech companies. This position will be a hybrid position, requiring occasional onsite work. Fully remote or travel work arrangements for this role are not available. Local candidates are encouraged to apply, but relocation assistance can be provided for well-qualified candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, coach, and mentor the Electrical Department staff, focusing on employee growth, project success, and overall performance. Implement and manage numerous projects-including greenfield, brownfield, and conversion projects-through all project design phases, meeting financial objectives and deliverables.
  • Oversee the design, implemenation, and engineering of active electrical engineering projects are completed sucessfully.
  • Coordinate with various disciplines within the organization to collaborate, optimize, and improve work and staff sharing by participating in multi-discipline strategy sessions.
  • Set clear goals and objectives, assess progress, and foster a performance-oriented culture with a focus on accountability.
  • Identify strengths and weaknesses of department personnel to prioritize training needs and develop/implement a training program.
  • Champion, mentor, and coach the development of the staff, elevating the technical and professional expertise of the team.
  • Assist upper-level management in articulating discipline capability requirements in support of strategic and business objectives.
  • Facilitate and supervise evaluation and employee relations duties, such as workforce planning/staffing, hiring, career development, advancement, and performance management.
  • Establish, monitor, and adhere to an annual planning year budget, making changes and adjustments as necessary to meet financial objectives, and being responsible for department expenses, profit, and loss.
  • Implement strategic activities within the department to achieve objectives of operations and corporate business.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent engineering degree with relevant experience).
  • At least three years of experience managing people, along with a proven track record of organizational and employee development.
  • An active Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of practice or the ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months of employment is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience of electrical engineering principals, and/or facilities design engineering within an industrial, semiconductor, chemical, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated skill in multidisciplinary coordination and collaboration, strong organization and communication skills, and highly responsive.
  • Salary Range: $125,000 - $170,000+/year depending on location, education, experience, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
