08-22-2024ABOUT UC SANTA CRUZUC Santa Cruz is a public university like no other in California, combining the experience of a small, liberal arts college with the depth and rigor of a major research university.DEPARTMENT OVERVIEWThe Academic Integrity Office (AIO) will reimagine the university's approach to academic ethics, with a focus on student-centered learning, mentorship, and restorative justice.JOB SUMMARYThe Education Specialist develops, delivers, and evaluates the effectiveness of AIO curricula and services such as individual mentoring, proactive integrity education, and restorative workshops or classes for students, staff, and other members of the campus community.The Education Specialist facilitates difficult conversations and holds others accountable with empathy, mentoring and modeling these skills for others across campus. The Education Specialist communicates, collaborates with, and provides guidance to campus partners who teach, advise, and coach students, enhancing knowledge of teaching and learning approaches that strengthen academic integrity.Finally, the Education Specialist oversees development and evaluation of AI Office outreach, which may include: planning events, creating publications and/or web-based content, and training faculty and staff on teaching or counseling techniques that increase self-regulation and motivation.APPOINTMENT INFORMATIONBudgeted Salary:
$90,000 - $105,000/Annually . Salary commensurate with skills, qualifications and experience.Benefits Level Eligibility:

Non-RepresentedJOB DUTIES40% - Academic integrity education and curriculum developmentLeads design, delivery, and evaluation of academic integrity training initiatives.Conducts outreach throughout the year supporting students to better understand their rights and responsibilities with respect to academic integrity.Monitors short and long-term effectiveness of AIO education and outreach.Builds staff and faculty members' knowledge and understanding of rights and responsibilities in academic integrity policy and process.Delivers and evaluates just-in-time customized training in multiple formats.30% - Student supervision and mentoringHires, trains, and mentors student employees who lead integrity outreach and training.Coordinates regular meetings and office hours for employees.Trains and communicates standards of evidence to student employees who serve on hearing boards.Leads collaboration with campus partners to develop joint training and/or professional development opportunities.20% - Academic integrity process and program assessmentProactively meets with students to assess needs, risks, and remedies.Exercises good judgment, innovation, and professional approaches to curriculum design and development.Trains and communicates standards of evidence to staff and faculty.10% - Campus collaboration and outreachConsults and collaborates with members of the campus community.Participates in administrative or research policy and program project planning.Leads engagement with assigned portfolio of partner offices.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education Policy or related field.Experience working in environments that require discretion and confidentiality.Expert knowledge and demonstrated experience monitoring and assessing people, processes, and curricula.Skills and experience developing and administering classes and programs.Prior experience hiring, training, or supervising employees and/or student employees.Prior experience implementing academic curricula.Prior experience as an instructor of record.Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.Outstanding administrative, project management, and organizational skills.Prior experience modeling practices that foster equity, inclusion, and integrity.Strong knowledge of best practices in academic integrity.Strong critical thinking and reasoning abilities.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSMaster's Degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Education Policy or related field.Advanced conflict resolution and demonstrated experience in restorative justice facilitation.SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENTSelected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment criminal history background check.Ability to work long periods of time at a computer.The selected candidate will be required to work primarily on campus, with periods of remote work possible.Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as directed.Ability to travel nationally.SAFETY STATEMENTAll UCSC employees must understand and follow job safety procedures, attend required health and safety training, and proactively promote safety at work.EEO/AAThe University of California is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
