12551Position Summary

Assist patients with activities of daily living, provide basic nursing care to both acute and post-acute patients/residents as appropriate to patient’s age and developmental stage, and assist in maintenance of a safe and clean environment.Perform various duties necessary to address the personal, hygienic, comfort, and safety needs of the patient. The HA/CNA works in conjunction with and under the supervision of the Licensed personnel.Demonstrate competency and commitment in achieving organizational and nursing department goals, as outlined in the HA/CNA behavior standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Comply with CHA Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, and guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements, or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.Practice service philosophy standards in all aspects of job performance and promote positive, supportive work relationships with all members of the hospital workforce.Demonstrate competency and professional responsibility in selected psychomotor skills (procedures) that are appropriate to patient’s age and developmental stage and allowed within the HA/CNA scope of care.Promote and maintain a safe working environment and ensure safe conduct in all aspects of job performance.Maintain Chinese Hospital’s attendance and punctuality standards in a consistent and regular manner.Bathed, cleaned, dressed, and undressed patients.Answer call lights to determine patient needs in a timely and professional manner.Transport/transfer patients via wheelchair, gurney, commode, bed, walkers, etc.Turn, reposition, and provide comfort measures to patients to prevent pressure ulcers.Perform duties utilizing knowledge of medical terminology, blood borne pathogen/infection control standards, and other hospital policies and procedures.Follow all infection control policies and procedures, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and hand hygiene.Change bed linens, run errands, direct visitors, collect specimens, and answer telephones.Serve/collect food trays and assist with feeding patients.Greet and direct all visitors.Take vital signs, weights, measure input and output, and record in chart.Assist in preparation of unit, rooms, and bed for admits and assist with the admission assessment.Assist in preparation for discharge and/or provide post-mortem care.Must be proficient in the operation of the following patient care equipment: stethoscope, B/P cuff and sphygmomanometer, thermometer, telemetry leads in specific patient care areas, hospital beds, gurneys, wheelchairs, walker, scales, commodes, IV poles. Must be familiar with traction, tubes, drains, collection devices, and specialty beds.Ability to use patient transport, moving, and lifting equipment and devices.Qualifications

Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certificate in the State of California or student nurse in an approved NLN program required.Six (6) months previous experience in Medical-Surgical (M/S) nursing preferred.Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification required.High School Education or equivalent preferred.Able to speak, read, write, and understand English.Proficient in the use of hospital equipment specific to the job duties or able to use all equipment within three (3) months of employment.Ability to use the electronic health record or ability to learn to use it within three (3) months of employment.The Hospital Aide HA/CNA must be able to perform skills to meet the special needs and behavior of specific age populations.Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties.Able to lift up to 30 pounds.Stand, walk, and move 50% of the day.Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment.Compliance Requirements

Starting at $32.01 – $37.81 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
