This individual will work with software developers, DBAs, and the security engineering for the collection, storage, protection, and analysis of the data at scale. The objective is to collect diverse data elements into a cohesive and expandable model to meet the different mission needs of the community. The data engineer will define strategies and capabilities to ensure data quality that can convert raw data elements into standard enumerations. The individual must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.The data engineer will be required to carry a duty phone on a rotational basis and may need to come in to address issues that arise with the system.Primary ResponsibilitiesThe data engineer will support our software developers, database administrators, and business analysts to ensure an optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout the system enhancement lifecycle. Some of the tasks the data engineer will be expected to perform when working with data include the following:Support the acquisition of datasets that align with business needsDevelop algorithms to transform data into useful, actionable informationBuild, test, and maintain the database pipeline architecturesCreate data validation methods and data analysis toolsEnsure compliance with data governance and security policiesBuild logical data models used for defining the database schemaAnalyze complex data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirementsBuild the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sourcesQualificationsMust have an active TS/SCI with PolygraphTypically requires a Master’s with 15+ years of prior relevant experience. Experience may be used in lieu of degree.Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databasesExperience building and optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data setsExperience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvementBuild processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload managementDesired QualificationsStrong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasetsHistory of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large disconnected datasetsWorking knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and highly scalable data storesExperience with relational SQL and NoSQL databasesExperience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environmentExperience with data pipeline and workflow managementExperience with AWS cloud services: EC2, EMR, RDS, and RedshiftExperience with object-oriented/object function scripting languages: Python, Java, C++, etc.Original Posting Date:

Pay Range $144,300.00 - $260,850.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
