The Enterprise Engineering Unified Communications (UC) Group provides globally scaled, high-quality voice, video, instant messaging, and communications solutions that support Amazonians around the world. Our services touch every element of the business every day: corporate offices, customer service teams, fulfillment centers, a diverse development community, and many more. This is an excellent opportunity for a software development engineer who is looking for a growth position with a high level of ownership in a small, growing team within the UC group. We leverage AWS technologies to operate on a global scale and deliver low-latency, highly-available services. If you join our team, you will be working with other talented Software Development engineers and Product managers to build the future of Enterprise applications used by Amazonians globally. You’ll play a key role in architecting, designing, supporting, and enhancing our AWS-based services. You’ll use and touch a wide range of technologies and systems, including products that we’ve built from the ground up and commercial products. You’ll help junior engineers develop their skills, and continue to raise the bar building for the future of Amazon.

Key job responsibilities

Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the organization.

Collaborate with a team of engineers and product managers to understand and refine the scope of incoming projects, and to ensure deliverables meet a high quality bar.

Design and code the right solutions, starting with broadly defined problems.

Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software and solutions

Basic Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
