Teledyne Gas & Flame is seeking a Territory Sales Manager for portable gas detection in the gas utility industry, supporting the America’s activities. The position will be home office based in the sales territory.

Teledyne Gas & Flame is seeking a Territory Sales Manager for Portable Gas Detection, primarily for the natural gas utility (distribution) market in America’s Midwest & Northeast Region.

Teledyne Gas & Flame is seeking a Territory Sales Manager for Portable Gas Detection, primarily for the natural gas utility (distribution) market in America’s West Coast Region.

This position will be based in USA.

The appointed candidate will be responsible for profitable promotion and growth of the portable gas detection portfolio in the gas utility market in the Midwest & Northeast USA region.

The successful candidate will join the Teledyne Gas & Flame business, working in close co-operation with the America’s Teledyne Gas & Flame Portable & Fixed Gas Detection sales team, the Teledyne GMI Product Management and Engineering team, Teledyne Detcon, and will be part of the America’s Teledyne Gas & Flame Portable gas detection team.

The role will involve managing the promotion and selling of portable gas detection products directly to end users in the gas utility market in the region. As a minimum, this will involve promoting, selling, supporting, consulting, managing the tender process, preparing quotes and building relationships with the relevant end user customers in the gas utility industry.

The successful candidate will have:

a track record of selling portable gas detection solutions directly to customers

demonstrate the ability to work independently

maintain focus on working towards Teledyne Gas & Flame’s values, strategies, and objectives.

This position reports directly to the Sales Leader for gas utility Americas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop an in-depth knowledge of the portable gas detection product portfolio, via successful completion of the required sales and technical training programs and utilize this knowledge to promote the products to new and existing customers in the AMER region.

Responsible for achieving agreed sales targets for the region by identifying sales opportunities in new and existing markets to meet or exceed business growth objectives.

Build strong business relationships with the end user and industry associations in the gas utility market in AMER region.

Responsible for managing the tender process including providing quotes and relevant documents.

Identify key end user accounts in the territory and implement a sales plan to support a direct selling structure to achieve sale growth.

Meet regularly with existing and prospective customers in the sales territory to understand their evolving business needs.

Prepare customer specific business plans.

Attend sales meetings and exhibitions in AMER and internationally as part of the AMER sales team.

Conduct sales presentations, customer training and seminars.

Daily use of our CRM, ERP and other IT tools (in order to provide customer information, forecasts and reports)

Work effectively with other internal departments: Marketing, Inside Sales & Customer Service, Field Service, Product Management, and Application Engineering.

Attend conferences and professional association meetings and promote the group product solutions and brands.

Monitor and report on market and competitor activities and provide relevant reports and information on weekly basis.

DESIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

Detailed knowledge of portable gas detection products and applications in the gas utility industry in AMER region and closely aligned markets.

Detailed knowledge in managing the full tender process in the public sector / gas utility industry in the AMER region.

Detailed knowledge of competitive products and industry trends.

Basic knowledge to provide first level of service support to customer.

Must be able to demonstrate professional field sales record (5+ years) with a proven track record.

Proven ability to train and teach internal and external customers.

Proven ability to communicate effectively at all levels both externally and internally.

Proven ability to create and maintain effective customer networks.

Demonstrate effectiveness in business development and lead qualification.

Degree Level qualification in sales/engineering/business or associated subject.

Objective driven, with the desire to succeed.

A dynamic, enthusiastic problem solver.

Effective team player with ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
