ResponsibilitiesThe Information Technology Directorate is looking for a high-performing individual to join our team as a Linux Systems Administrator (Infrastructure Analyst II).

Key Responsibilities

Manage and maintain Red Hat Linux servers in a large-scale enterprise environment.

Implement, and maintain Ansible playbooks and automation scripts to streamline infrastructure provisioning and configuration management tasks.

Implement and maintain VMware virtualization technologies, including vSphere and vCenter.

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux servers, network infrastructure, and virtualization environments.

Document system configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and best practices.

Take ownership of technical problems and see them through to resolution, using an advanced knowledge level of established standards, practices, and procedures.

Provide support for all NNSS systems and technologies.

Troubleshoot and identify technical issues needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements.

Create documentation for change management, system security baselines, SOPs, and peer training.

Provide support to Data Center environments including site recoverability of the primary data center.

Monitor and diagnose systems performance issues, providing suggestions for ways to increase performance and throughput.

Provide server support to include installation, configuration, troubleshooting, repair and daily operations.

Respond to Help Desk requests to support and troubleshoot workstation and server related problems.

Support the consistent and effective implementation of new or changed IT services, architectures, technology, processes, information, and metrics.

Perform other duties assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field or equivalent training and experience with at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge of technical principles, theories, standards, practices, and procedures.

Knowledge equivalent to an RHCE, LPIC-2/3, 5 years' experience.

Working level knowledge of, networking, virtualization, SAN, Cloud, and related technologies.

Minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience in VMware vSphere.

Working knowledge of Disaster Recovery practices.

Ansible Tower/Automation Platform

Apache/NGinx Web Server

Red Hat IDM

Tomcat/WebLogic Middleware

HaProxy Load Balancers

Bind DNS

Database systems such as Oracle, My SQL/MariaDB, Postgres

Solid understanding of SOA architectures, core Linux system and solid services support.

Understanding of complex networks and networking infrastructure as well as networking best practices.

Must be a team player with good customer service skills and the ability to work flexible hours if required.

Ensure to exhibit strong end-to-end troubleshooting skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Red Hat Certifications preferred.

The primary work location will be at the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada.

Work schedule options for this position include 4/10s and 5/8’s (subject to change).

Participate in after-hours support pool. Requirements include evening and weekend availability.

Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

(position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.

Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Hourly pay range for this position is:

$35.26 - $52.89.

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
