We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our team at our community-based Oncology Clinic. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to individuals facing cancer diagnoses.Job Summary:

The Local Float Registered Nurse (RN) works across our Community-Based Oncology Clinics providing coverage while offering the RN the opportunity to gain diverse experience and exposure to different patient populations and treatments.Location of this position: To ensure clarity of scheduling, the Float Registered Nurse is primarily aligned to our clinics within Orange County but will also cover additional clinics in the surrounding area. Our FLOAT careers work in the same capacity at our area clinics.Key Responsibilities:Our Registered Nurses are responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to oncology patients throughout their treatment journey. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive support, education, and compassionate care to patients and their families.Patient Assessment and Care:

Conduct thorough assessments of patients, including physical and psychological aspects, to develop individualized care plans.Medication Management:

Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other medications as prescribed, ensuring proper dosage, safety, and patient education.Symptom Management:

Monitor and manage cancer-related symptoms and side effects, providing appropriate interventions and counseling.Patient Education:

Educate patients and families about their diagnosis, treatment options, and self-care, offering emotional support throughout the process.Treatment Support:

Assist with procedures, surgeries, and diagnostic tests, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care.Documentation:

Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans, medication administration, and progress notes.Collaboration:

Collaborate with oncologists, nurse practitioners, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated and holistic patient care.Safety:

Follow established infection control protocols and ensure a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.Quality Improvement:

Participate in quality improvement initiatives and research projects to enhance patient outcomes and clinic practices.Emotional Support:

Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families, addressing their psychological and emotional needs.Qualifications:Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in [State].Ability to learn Chemo Mixing.ONS Chemotherapy Biotherapy Certification within three months of start date.Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with a focus on oncology care preferred.Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.ACLS preferred but not required.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing patient needs.Support other duties as assigned.Competitive compensation and benefits package.Continuing education and professional development opportunities.Supportive and collaborative team environment.Interested in exploring careers at The Oncology Institute but not ready to apply yet?
