Overview

Job PurposeThe Infrastructure Solutions Architecture (ISA) group at Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) is a cross-disciplined team that takes a full stack view on solution development. This team participates in the definition of high-level functional and non-functional requirements, analyzes technical trade-offs, decomposes major components and subsystems, and helps define the interfaces, collaborations, and dependencies between them.The role of an ISA Global Architect is to strengthen that cycle while transcending specific business unit boundaries to represent infrastructure at an enterprise scale. Global team members partner closely with members of the engineering and development teams, operations team, and company leadership to ensure that ICE continues to deliver upon its business objectives.The ISA Global team has the expertise to shape ground-breaking business products, material, and processes across the entire portfolio at ICE. The architects lead technology investigations and recommend solutions based on what they learn and foster understanding of our capabilities. Our insights influence product architecture and definitions. In cooperation with leadership, the ISA team plays a critical role to align teams in a common technical direction at ICE. This team represents a key element of the ICE technology governance process and embodies our goals for maintaining a high degree of standardization and quality in everything we do.ResponsibilitiesDesign and Collaboration: Architecture leads are responsible for insuring business and technical requirements are translated into design specifications, collaborating with other architects to ensure solutions align with strategic directions, and continuously reviewing project implementations to maintain alignment with approved architectures.Project Support and Documentation: Role works closely with project management to mitigate architecture-related issues, maintain and update architecture documentation, and ensure software and technology currency.Technical Guidance and Communication: Role leverages subject matter experts to collaborate with development teams, manage workloads, communicate project status to senior managers, and identify opportunities for component reuse.Risk Management and Evaluation: Identify and communicate risks associated with application implementation, guide the selection of hardware and software components, and participate in product/vendor evaluation processes.Standards and Best Practices: Architecture lead helps foster the creation and socialization of corporate architecture standards and best practices, and initiate proof of concept/technology when appropriate.Knowledge and ExperienceBachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related fieldExtensive background in designing infrastructure architectures for global enterprisesPrevious experience working in Systems, Network Architecture or Engineering.Previous experience working in a low-latency environment, such as the financial industry. Good knowledge of server operating systems and their TCP/IP stacks, Linux, and WindowsDemonstrated technical expertise and acumen of over 10 years or more in one or more specialty fields (Systems - HW/OS, Storage, Security, Networking - L2/L3, Cloud (AWS / Azure / GCP)Maintain strong hands-on technical expertise to facilitate proof of concept evaluations and foster collaboration with engineering teamsExperience in establishing and enforcing standards and practicesAbility to resolve complex issues in creative, efficient, and effective waysKnowledgeable of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF/ITILHas experience in developing enterprise security design patterns, standards, and guidelinesStrong familiarity with networking, virtualization, and general IT systemsBroad knowledge of core information security principles, such as access control, least privilege and data integrity, along with security capabilitiesProgramming/Scripting Languages: Python, Perl, PowerShellKnowledge of a product technology and system level integrationPrevious experience in the domains of identity, authentication, and information securityIndustry certification preferred (CISSP, CISA, GIAC, CCSP, Cloud provider certifications)Technical security certifications are not required but considered an asset, such as CISSP, GCIH, GCIA, GCFA, GPEN, GCFE, CCNA, CCNPExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to conduct presentations to peers, cross- functional teams and director level of leadershipExperience in a DevSecOps environmentUnderstanding/Knowledge of global security frameworks and standards, such as NIST, CIS, FIPSScheduleThis role offers work from home flexibility of one day per week.Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
