Job Description:
The Senior Project Manager position is in the Information Technology (IT) department with the responsibility to create and manage execution of medium to large-scale project plans to implement new enhancements and incorporate major acquisitions into our SAP landscape. Will work with IT leadership team to prioritize projects and communicate status to business management or executive team sponsors. Will be responsible for all project management documentation, managing/escalating issues, and producing timely status reports to review with stakeholders identified as a part of project preparation. Will work to standardize project management principles within the IT organization and serve as a mentor to help grow others in project management.
Senior Project Manager Typical Duties:
Typical duties may include, but not be limited to, the following:
Provides leadership, guidance, coordination, and assistance to staff and clients regarding project management. Serves as individual contributor on critical project activities. Effectively delegates responsibility to team members and mediates conflict when necessary.Leads or actively participates in meetings with internal departments. Identifies, defines, and manages project scope and deliverables. Accountable to owner or sponsor of project for delivery of overall results.Prioritizes projects and /or ensures consistency with corporate strategies. Ensures the team is offering quality work or services to the organization and work plans align with the business strategy.Oversees or creates Statements of Work (SOWs) for internal customer sign-off. Manages and/or creates Project Plans that define project tasks, schedules, deliverables, budget, communications, and resources. Drives projects from conception to completion. Acquires authorized approval from necessary business resources.Manages projects to include scope, quality, budget, risk, and staff morale, and customer satisfaction before, during, and after project completion.Establishes a repository for lessons learned to be used in future projects to consistently improve upon project delivery.Manages customer relationships and their requirements to evaluate resources and collaboratively set and meet multiple deliverables.Manages capital project budgetsSupervises IT project team members including activities such as interviewing/screening applicants, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; counseling and coaching, planning, and evaluating employees' performance. May manage a cross-functional team of IT and business resources as well as outside consultants.Manages vendor relationships and negotiates contracts.Influences management and project team to incorporate new ideas into current systems, policies, methods, and procedures. Creates migration plans.Senior Project Manager Qualifications:
The following qualifications are required or preferred:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science or related field and 5 years project management experience with IT software application implementations.Demonstrated successful track record supervising, leading and coaching other project managers with project experience with formal Project Management methodologies (e.g. PMI or Six Sigma), Procurement, RFP (request for proposal) and Contract Management required.Significant experience with proven ability to manage, execute, control and achieve closure of complex projects.Organizational and Operational Change Management Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred.Excellent planning and organization, project management and time management skills.Strong problem solving and negotiation abilities.Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills
