Role Summary

The Battery-in-the-Loop (BIL) Senior Development Engineering Technician will be critical in the testing and validation of high-voltage battery systems for electric vehicles (EVs). This role combines expertise in BIL testing protocols, mechanical fabrication, and high-voltage systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. The technician will collaborate closely with engineering teams to support product development and integration.

Responsibilities

BIL System Setup: Configure and maintain BIL testing environments, integrating high-voltage battery systems with hardware and software components effectively.Testing and Validation: Execute BIL tests to evaluate battery performance, efficiency, and safety, ensuring compliance with industry standards and specifications.Data Analysis: Analyze test data to identify performance trends and generate comprehensive reports, providing actionable insights for battery design improvements.Mechanical Fabrication: Utilize mechanical fabrication skills to design, build, and modify test fixtures and setups necessary for BIL testing.Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to BIL setups and high-voltage components, collaborating with engineering teams to implement effective solutions.Safety Protocols: Adhere to all safety protocols and best practices when working with high-voltage systems, ensuring a safe working environment.Documentation: Maintain thorough documentation of testing procedures, configurations, and results to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge transfer.Collaboration: Work alongside cross-functional teams, including design, software, BMS teams and quality assurance, to enhance testing methodologies and address system-level challenges.Mentorship: Provide guidance and training to junior technicians and engineering staff on BIL testing techniques, mechanical fabrication, and high-voltage safety practices.Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on advancements in battery technology, BIL methodologies, and high-voltage safety standards, recommending improvements to optimize testing processes.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in battery testing and development within the electric vehicle sector.High-Voltage Experience: Familiarity with high-voltage systems and components, with a solid understanding of safety practices related to high-voltage operations.Technical Skills: Proficient in BIL testing tools and software, with programming skills in languages such as C/C++ or Python.Fabrication Skills: Strong mechanical fabrication skills, including experience with machining, assembly, and welding techniques.Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in evaluating battery performance.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with battery management systems (BMS) and energy storage technologies.Familiarity with automotive industry standards and safety regulations.Relevant certifications in battery testing or mechanical fabrication methodologies.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Candidates:

$47.33/hr. - $59.16/hr. (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).Benefits Summary:
