40 hours, Sunday - Thursday 11:30PM-8:00AM; this position is essential in the event of a weather or other emergency.Pays $23.00 per hour,
plus $2.00 (shift differential pay) for every hour worked between 11:00pm – 7:00amLOCATION:
6 Hartford Street Dorchester, MASUMMARY OF THE POSITION:The VTHP Overnight Counselor will provide an awake overnight presence, conduct regular rounds throughout the building, be accessible to tenants, assisting with regular daily tenant wellness checks, overseeing occupancy agreement and house rule compliance, setting limits when appropriate, and providing crisis intervention as necessary. The incumbent will contribute to the physical upkeep of the building by noting any housekeeping or maintenance issues that arise during their shift, resolving these problems where possible and forwarding these concerns to appropriate staff for later resolution when necessary. The VTHP Overnight Counselor will be an important member of a team, which has as its goal assisting our veterans to achieve the very highest possible quality of life.RequirementsEDUCATION/TRAINING:REQUIRED:High School Diploma or GEDBasic computer literacy using the current versions of Windows, Word and EmailEnglish LiteracyPREFERRED:College degreeBilingual English/SpanishKNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:REQUIRED :Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with homeless populationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience providing good written documentationPREFERRED:Prior experience in residential management, maintenance, and housekeepingFamiliarity with Harm Reduction approach to working with people with Behavioral Health challengesExperience using Crisis InterventionKnowledge of substance abuse issues and mental illness
