Continuity Specialist

in our Emergency Management Department to support emergency management and continuity program management under the Emergency Manager. This role involves enhancing the Lab’s preparedness and resilience, coordinating continuity efforts with experts, and ensuring compliance with DOE directives.All Security and Emergency Services Department members have emergency duties for incidents affecting Lab safety, security, and property. This role requires 24/7 availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.What You Will Do:Manage and update the LBNL Continuity of Operations and Business Continuity Plans, ensuring their readiness and compliance with DOE and LBNL standards.Collaborate with management to integrate continuity elements, applying Hazard Vulnerability Assessments and Business Impact Analysis, and coordinating drills and exercises using FEMA HSEEP guidelines.Support LBNL leadership in continuity strategies, coordinate across organizations, and assess the impact of preparedness policies and plans.Assist the Emergency Manager with developing, managing, and maintaining the lab’s Emergency Management Program to meet institutional and regulatory requirements, including DOE Orders 150.1B and 151.1D.Pursue and maintain training and certification in continuity and emergency management.What is Required:Continuity Specialist Level 2:A minimum of 2 years relevant experience in continuity or emergency management field OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.Skilled in developing and implementing continuity policies, plans, and documentation.Experienced in collaborative training, conducting drills and exercises, and performing assessments.Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, with proficiency in Windows and/or MacOS.Continuity Specialist Level 3 (in addition to Level 2):A minimum of 5 years relevant experience in continuity or emergency management field OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.Desired Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.Relevant coursework, training, or certification focused on business continuity or continuity of operations.Working knowledge of NFPA 1600, DOE Order 150.1B, DOE O 151.1D, the National Response Framework (NRF), National Incident Management System (NIMS), California Standardized Emergency Management System (SEMS), and the Incident Command System (ICS).Professional Continuity Practitioner or Master Continuity Practitioner.Certified Business Continuity Practitioner.FEMA or other relevant Incident Command Systems (ICS) training.Notes:This is a full-time career appointment, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.The Continuity Specialist Level 2 position is expected to pay $97,884 - $108,192 annually, which fits into the full salary range of $82,440 - $139,116 for the job classification of SE1.2 (Level 2).The Continuity Specialist Level 3 position is expected to pay $120,060 - $132,696 annually, which fits into the full salary range of $101,112 - $170,616 for the job classification of SE1.3 (Level 3).This position may be subject to a background check. Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position.This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule - a combination of teleworking and performing work on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, 1 Cyclotron Road, Berkeley, CA.
