Overview

The Director of Development must have a passion for the mission of St. Luke's Foundation by increasing the level of involvement and philanthropic support from donors and prospects. Will work with the Foundation's team with special responsibilities for planning and implementing a program to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors with the ability to make major annual gifts, special project gifts and planned gifts directed to the mission of UnityPoint Health. The director's success is dependent on the ability to build new and foster existing relationships. Reports to the President of St. Luke's Foundation and works collaboratively with Foundation staff, Foundation Board, and internal/external constituents.Why UnityPoint Health?Commitment to our Team -

Responsibilities

Operational FunctionsIn conjunction with the St. Luke's Foundation president, develop and implement an annual and multi-year development plan for major gifts.Develop and implement a communications plan to promote philanthropy for UPH.Plan and implement program of annual and major gifts, using staff/volunteers where appropriate.Participate as a full member of the St. Luke's Foundation team in planning, organizing, coordinating, and attending annual fundraising activities and events.In that program, identify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospective annual and major donors.Structure major prospect identification process, including the use of web-based resources.Organize a cultivation program of annual and major donors using a variety of methods including personal visits, involving other staff, administration, current donors, and friends.Meet fundraising targets established annually; based on industry benchmarks and tracked in enterprise foundation data base.Strategic PlanningCoordinate with Planned Giving to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward future planned gifts.Participate as a full member of the Foundation's team in planning, organizing, and coordinating annual fundraising activities and events.Performance ImprovementDemonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations.Integrates and demonstrates FOCUS values and Expectations for Personal and Service Excellence to guide professional behaviors, while adhering to the policies and procedures of UPHPractice reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, TJC, OSHA, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.

Qualifications

Bachelor's DegreeThree years' experience in charitable philanthropic work (including annual gifts experience) or sales/marketing background or significant volunteer work with non-profits during their fundraising programs and/or campaigns.Exceptional writing and communications skills essential.Ability to work evening and weekend events is expected.Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of theposition.
