We develop philosophies, mechanisms and products that guide leaders to inspect and make data-driven decisions to improve their organizational operating models, structures, and executive talent.As the Organizational Design and Effectiveness Principal, you’ll own defining the long-term vision for how we measure and help leaders improve their organization’s effectiveness. You’ll build mechanisms to work closely with talent management, PXT, organizational effectiveness experts and business leaders in each line of business to understand the nuances of their businesses and how organizational effectiveness processes and products could help solve their business challenges more effectively. You’ll partner with our research scientists to advance our understanding of organizational effectiveness at Amazon, and constantly scan academia and industry best practices for innovations we can learn from. You’ll frame decisions for Amazon’s most senior HR and business leaders through writing crisp, data-driven documents and facilitating discussion that codify our organizational effectiveness processes. You’ll be a strategic thought partner and teacher to the team, providing product managers, UX designers, and engineers with a real-world perspective on the fundamentals and the nuances of improving organizational effectiveness. You’ll write guidance and develop support resources for business leaders and their PXT partners to implement organizational effectiveness processes, then work with product managers on our team to embed guidance and processes in our products.Key job responsibilities
Uncovering the root causes of pain points for executives and their HR partnersSourcing, sharing, and adapting organizational design and effectiveness innovations from industry and academiaDefining the long-term vision for Amazon’s peculiar organizational design and effectiveness philosophies and processesInfluencing HR and business leaders on philosophical and process decisions related to organizational effectivenessAdvising and training product, design, and engineering partners on both strategic needs and practical realities of executing organizational designDeveloping and leading ongoing mechanisms to create an organizational effectiveness community of practice across AmazonDesigning research studies in partnership with Research Scientists to advance Amazon’s understanding of how to improve organizational effectivenessBASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degreeExceptional data-driven, business writing skills10+ years of progressive experience in executive talent management and/or organizational design and effectivenessExperience defining and implementing talent management strategies and programs for large, fast-paced and diverse organizationsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, and/or an MBAExperience working in Tech industryExperience advising business executives through verbal and written communicationExperience partnering with product and/or engineering teams to implement scalable solutionsExceptional analytical skills, comfortable working with large amounts of data and communicating data findingsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
