The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the electrical design and engineering efforts for utility-scale solar projects. This role involves designing, developing, and optimizing electrical systems to ensure efficient and reliable energy production. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering, particularly in the solar energy sector, and a proven track record of managing complex projects from conception through to completion.Key Responsibilities:
Electrical System Design:Develop and design electrical systems for utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects, including AC/DC systems, inverters, transformers, and protective relays.
Project Management:Lead engineering projects, coordinating with cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, civil engineers, and project managers to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Technical Analysis:Conduct electrical load analysis, system modeling, and performance simulations to optimize the efficiency and reliability of solar installations.
Compliance and Standards:Ensure designs comply with national and international electrical codes, standards, and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Troubleshooting and Support:Provide technical support during the installation, commissioning, and operation phases. Troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues that arise during these stages.
Documentation:Prepare detailed design documentation, including schematics, layouts, and specifications. Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and up-to-date.
Vendor Coordination:Collaborate with suppliers and contractors to select and specify electrical equipment and components. Review vendor submittals and oversee equipment procurement.
Mentorship:Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and support to ensure the development of engineering talent within the team.
Innovation:Contribute to the development of new engineering methodologies and techniques to enhance the performance and efficiency of solar projects.
Qualifications:
Education:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field plus PE license
Experience:Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in electrical design engineering, with a focus on utility-scale solar PV systems. Experience with high-voltage electrical systems is preferred.
Technical Skills:Proficiency in electrical design software such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, ETAP, or similar. Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and solar PV technology.
Certifications:Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is preferred.
Project Management:Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
Problem-Solving:Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to address complex engineering challenges.
Travel:Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
