The Director-Capital Implementation is responsible for performing the duties and responsibilities of the Corporate Project Engineer role as a working project engineer as well as providing guidance and oversight of the Corporate Projects Group. The Director of Capital Implementation will report directly to the Sr. Director of Implementation-Operations Capital. In this role, the incumbent will manage major operational integrity and infrastructure projects and provide input for the strategic direction of the 3 and 5 year corporate and plant capital plans. They will address operational integrity needs for the organization; manage infrastructure expansions; review annual plant level capital plans ensuring appropriate prioritization of operational and infrastructural projects. Specific Responsibilities
Effectively manage the Capital Implementation Group (3+ direct reports). Provide strategic contribution into 3 and 5 year corporate and plant capital plans to address Operations Capital needs for the organization. Oversee the development and execution of 3 year electrical and civil/structural infrastructure plans to ensure prioritization based on safety, plant criticality, and obsolescence. Analyze all facets of proposed projects and provide detailed cost, schedule, and justifications to support capital expenditures. Interface with maintenance and production to ascertain and identify operational maintenance problems and opportunities. Manage or support all aspects of infrastructure projects including design, construction, vendor management, cost tracking, operational interfaces, and operations preparation, and startup. Coordinate between contractors, vendors, and GAF to manage, engineer, and implement projects efficiently without causing production delays. Provide leadership and support for the Capital Implementation team while promoting a collaborative, customer service philosophy. Lead/participate in cross-functional corporate and plant teams investigating opportunities to improve and expand GAF’s processes, products, and business opportunities. Promote a culture of safety excellence ensuring team members, contractors, and vendors are safety focused. Technical Skills
Advanced knowledge of manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures. Advanced ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings. Advanced proficiency using root cause analysis and structured methods to troubleshoot and solve problems. Advanced ability to translate technical data into a suitable format for operations and maintenance personnel. Advanced knowledge of engineering fundamentals. Job / General Knowledge/Skills
Demonstrated leadership in capital project planning, development, and execution. Advanced ability to establish and maintain strategic working relationships across all GAF functions. Ability to prioritize multiple projects and initiatives. Demonstrated experience in hiring/training/coaching employees and performance management. Advanced knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools. Advanced knowledge of OSHA and environmental regulations. Advanced communication skills; written, verbal, and listening skills. Advanced analytical skills. Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated hands-on experience including direct supervision of engineers and contractor personnel. Ability to manage the efforts of contractors and/or internal maintenance personnel in project installations. Strong ability to influence and drive cross-functional decisions and initiatives. BS degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical with Mechanical preferred). 5+ years of management-level supervision including management of multiple salaried engineers. Proven background in managing projects with budgets of $100K - $20MM. Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplines as project manager. Willingness and ability to travel 50-60%. Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S., without current or future sponsorship for employment-based visa status. Under This Roof, We Also Value
